Walk into our academy on any given evening and you will see women on the mats in every program — drilling takedowns in BJJ, working combinations in Cardio Kickboxing, earning ranks in Karate / Taekwondo. It is a shift happening across martial arts, and it is making the sport better.
Part of the growth is visible role models. Our own BJJ program is co-headed by Professor Talita Bernardo, a 3rd-degree black belt and Invicta FC champion — proof at the highest level of where this training can lead. But most women on our mats are not chasing competition; they are chasing capability, fitness and confidence.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu holds a particular appeal: it was designed to neutralize size and strength advantages, which makes it uniquely practical for women's self-defense. Cardio Kickboxing offers a different entry point — a high-energy workout with real striking skills and a supportive group atmosphere.
If you have ever been curious but hesitant, know that every woman on our mats had a first day too. You will be welcomed, and you will be surprised what you are capable of.
