New students often ask how many classes per week they should take. The honest answer: consistency beats intensity, and the best schedule is the one you can sustain for years.
Twice a week is the sweet spot for most students, and it is how our Karate / Taekwondo program is structured — two intensive hour-long sessions weekly. That frequency keeps techniques fresh between classes, builds fitness steadily, and leaves room for the rest of your life. Students training twice a week progress reliably toward their quarterly testings.
Once a week works too, especially for adults easing in — progress is simply slower. In our BJJ program, students choose their pace: one class, two classes, or unlimited per week. What matters is that the rhythm is sustainable. A student who trains once a week for three years will always beat the student who trained five times a week for two months and burned out.
If you want to accelerate, add consistency before volume: ten minutes of stretching or basics at home between classes does more than an extra class done sporadically.
